    Chapter 1:

    Why Making Gold Bar/Silver Bar

Undeniably, you would know gold is one of the oldest mineral known to us. Our ancestors have used it as back as the earliest civilizations have known to exist. The semi-finished gold product, the gold bullion has two functions.

You’ll sell it as a product itself because of the value it holds and use it as means of currency. Another purpose is to serve as a raw material in the production of other goods. Let’s look at each of these in detail.

    1.1, Gold bullion for sale

If you’re an investor, You’ll put your money into gold mining business either for selling it raw or making gold bullion. Second parties then set these ingots or bars to whatever use they like.

However, you being an investor will put your money into gold so that you can sell it and make profits. Therefore, it is one of the principal functions of gold bullion. You can watch the video below and learn 11 reasons for saving in gold bullion.

Now, do you want to know if your profession allows your interest in buying a gold bullion? Well, here’s a list of concerned specialists: bankers, refiners, vault operators and as well as transport companies.

They are usually the middle-men who are involved with perfecting the ingots or melting them. If you want to get the gold shipped or deal in it, they are the people You’ll be contacting. Similarly, these professionals melt, scrutinize and vault the gold bullion. All these specialists contribute to the bullion market.

Even if the gold ingot functions as means of selling, its end function will always be to come into use. The gold utilization is truly extensive, and we will shortly look at a few of its consumption areas.

1.2, Uses of the gold bullion

If there’s one thing we have known surely about gold’s usage, it is its effectiveness as a currency. Transactions in gold have been recorded as early as over 6000 years back. Since it’s durable and highly valuable, we have long used it as a medium of exchange.

Even today, the money in circulation, in an economy, is backed by a corresponding stockpile of gold. It means that the currencies are released about the gold reserve your country holds. All this gold is in the form of the bullions only.

What other uses gold bullion has, you ask? First of all, we will look at one curiosity-sparking question: If gold is such a valuable mineral, what characteristics does it possess after all? Topping the list are a few of its qualities.

    1. Gold is an excellent conductor of electricity.
    2. It has a high melting point which means that there’s excellent heat endurance. This feature further helps with casting and shaping intricate details onto the mineral.
    3. It’s one of the minerals that will not oxidize and thus corrode, tarnish or lose its color.
    4. It blends easily with other metals and thus makes super alloys.
    5. If you’re looking for an easy-to-work-with metal, gold is an ideal option. Not only can it be drawn into wire but one can make thin sheets of gold as well.
    6. We can’t overlook the lustrous radiance of the metal which also makes it more useful.

All in all, gold possesses various qualities which makes it one of the most functional metals ever mined. Therefore, you can use it in a variety of domains – from financial markets to jewellery-making to dentistry. Even the aerospace industry makes ample use of gold bullion. Let’s see in detail how nifty gold bullion is after all.

    1.2.1, Gold bullion in Jewellery

The most primary use of gold is probably in making jewellery. For thousands of years, we have made ornaments out of gold. Being one of the most precious metal that it is, you surely like flaunting wearing gold jewellery, no? Everyone does!

Other than this, for all the other qualities mentioned earlier, gold bullions are quite easy to mould into jewellery ornaments. Gold jewellery has been a status symbol for all of us. It has become a tradition to craft essential things out of gold, for instance, your wedding ring is most probably a gold ring.

If we use pure gold to make jewellery, it is tough to manipulate it as it is very soft. Therefore, artisans usually use alloys where other metal is combined with gold to make it more workable. Gold blend with silver, platinum or copper makes it more durable.

    1.2.2, Gold in Electronics

Gold is used in the manufacturing of electronics as well. If you consider the solid-state electronic devices, they use low voltage and current. If the pathway tarnishes or corrodes, it easily disturbs this low voltage and current. Hence, the performance of the device is compromised.

It is why gold is used – not only is it a good conductor of electricity, it does not corrode either. So, if gold is used in any component of the electronic device, one can deem it as highly reliable. As for the elements which use gold, there are switches, connectors, the relay connects and connecting wires amongst others.

Even if your device does not use a whole lot of gold, a meagre amount is used in every hi-tech equipment. Therefore, you can expect the use of gold in your cell phones, PDAs, GPS and calculators. The following video will shed more light on gold’s use in electronics.

Your computer is another electronic device which makes extensive use of gold in its manufacturing. Manufacturers of desktop computers and laptops use gold due to the importance of exceptional quality of data transmission in this equipment. This transmission is not only regarding speed but in terms of accuracy as well.

Hence, gold is the only metal which fulfills all these requirements at one time. Gold is used in the edge connectors through which the microprocessor and memory chips are mounted on the motherboard. The plug-and-socket connectors have gold in them as well. The prices for the desktop computers and laptops now sound justified, right?

    1.2.3, Dentistry and gold

Understandably, if you lose your permanent teeth, there’s no way a new will come in its place naturally. It is why there needs to be an alternative to filling the cavity, and that is where gold comes in. Other metals or elements have one or the other problem which does not allow them to assist in dentistry.

As for gold, it has been used in this field for as early as 700 B.C.! Your smile does not get ruined due to gold teeth in place nor does your oral health. Gold is chemically inactive, non-allergenic and workable, which makes it perfect for the dentists’ use. The concerned professionals use gold for fillings, bridges, crowns and orthodontic appliances.

Even though there was a breakdown in gold’s use in dentistry, you will see it around for quite some time now.

1.2.4, Other medical uses of gold

You would be amazed to know, but gold has amazingly beneficial applications in medicinal fields. Meager but considerable utilization of gold persists in the medical domain. You have bits of radioactive gold isotope rooted in tissues to locate the radiation source during treatment of certain cancers.

Then, you can also use it to treat a condition where a person is unable to close their eyes altogether. Moreover, you can witness gold in the manufacturing of many surgical instruments, electronics and life-support devices.

    1.2.5, Aerospace and gold

Qualities of gold have made it a perfect ingredient in the manufacturing of the aerospace bodies, such as the satellites. Understandably, gold is used in circuits as well as a coating of the polyester films on many of the components.

The goal-coating reflects infrared radiations and keeps the temperature of the aircraft in check. It might sound a bit absurd, but gold is used as a lubricant between mechanical parts as well.

    1.2.6, Gold – a status symbol

Due to the significance gold holds, it has long been used to make medals and awards for the worthy. It is what honors the highly-esteemed. Hence, the trophy or the medal for the first-place winner is usually made of gold. So, if you have ever won a first-prize trophy, it is probably casted out of gold!

Awards and medals for the Olympics’ first-place winner, the Academy Awards Oscar and the Music Grammy’s awards are all gold! Similarly, to highlight the prestige of the kings and the queens, their crowns are made from gold.

    1.2.7, Gold in glassmaking

Gold is used as a pigment in glassmaking. If a small amount is adjourned during the galvanization of the glass, it will result in a rich ruby color. Moreover, it is used in making speciality glass for climate-controlled buildings and cases. Since it reflects solar radiation, it helps keep the buildings cool.

Same reflective properties make gold an ideal ingredient in making the visor for the astronaut’s helmet as well.

1.3, Gold, probably the most useful metal

Summing it up, it seems as if you can use gold in countless ways. We have been using it diversely for a very long time. Plausibly, there are still a lot more uses of which we are not aware.

The earliest use of gold was as currency and in jewellery making. With time, more commercial applications were unveiled, and still, other usage possibilities are being recognised.

It might have seized to be used as a medium of exchange due to paper money, but the worth persists. Gold bullion possesses countless opportunities – it’s you who decides what to do with it!

Watch the video below to discover the five most surprising uses of gold!

    Chapter 2:

How to make gold bar/silver bar

    2.1, Traditional Methods

There are two main ways to make gold/silver bars. The one used historically is the traditional techniques of gold mining which goes back to 4000 years BC. The initial gold bar casts were made 6000 years ago.

Because of the low melting temperatures, at first the gold and silver castings were made in the open air stoves. Ever since the beginning, new methods have been invented to redesign the majority of appliances.

The primary focus however stayed the same: gold and silver are exposed to intense fire and then poured in molds. This method has some significant downsides. It is time, labor and energy consuming, not safe for workers and possesses environmental hazards.

The most ancient method of digging out gold from the mines and casting it goes back to 4000 years BC. The very first golden cast was made about 6000 years ago.

Hydraulic methods were used by Romans such as hushing. Back in the days mining was in control of the state but these days’ people can buy the lands under a private name and secure gold/silver for themselves.

Some of the common methods for mining include placer mining, panning, sluicing, dredging and rocker box. After this they go through either a cyanide process or a mercury process. Gold and Silver castings are known to have low melting temperatures. Their castings can be done in the open air stoves.

After it is melted, it is checked for purity. If it’s still not pure, the next step is smelting. This involves warming the gold with a chemical known as flux. This helps in bonding the contaminants that later on show up on the surface of melted gold.

After they are removed or extracted, the gold is then left to cool off and harden in molds. The flux-contaminant mixture known as slag is considered solid waste and thus discarded.

The procedural ways is the melting of the gold inside an open crucible having a gas furnace. The amount of melted gold in order to size the bars, the gold is poured through a gas flame that is then transferred to the cast iron bar mold which has been pre-heated to cater for the making of the molds.

The heated liquid is then transferred to the water tank to cool down. The bar is also cleaned afterwards to get rid of any stain or dirt on it. Later it is weighed to be sent away for approval.

Gold mining can bring immense changes to the natural environment. In tropical forests, deforestation is a prime example. This can be seen along rivers and in isolated areas. Further gold mining impacts can be noticed in aquatic areas in form of mercury.

This is usually highly toxic to wildlife and is passed down through human consumption. Recently, non-governmental organizations are taking active part to promote environmentally friendly mining practices in the mining industry. Gold attained through this is called ‘ethical’ gold.

    2.2, Turn-Key Production Line

With the purpose of reducing the major downsides of the traditional casting method, the IKOI Srl have integrated scientific precision, top-notch technologies, and high-level engineering to create the super-effective instruments for gold and silver casting.

Recently safety during plant management and handling has immense importance for the end customers. This is why special care is taken by IKOI in attempts to reduce energy consumption and safety measures have been taken for the operators.

Our technologies provide for the time and material consuming production, with the advantage of savings in human labor as whole the process is entirely automated.

The power induction generators provide for the timely and fast material heat up, and vacuum casting process conveys the clean and even bar surface. Besides saving in energy and time, the production processes are environmentally safe and eliminate any danger for workers.

    2.3, Vacuum casting method

    2.3.1, Build

The SuperbMelt gold bar making machine (SPB-JD) is one of the leading products in the casting industry. Still, it features the compact size of 1450*620*1080 mm and weighs 285 kg only. This makes it perfect for fast delivery to any spot on the planet.

The power source is the induction generator that accelerates the heating process. You receive the desired melting temperature in a moment. The central element that makes the distinction is the vacuum pump that caters to the ripple and oxidation-free ingot surface. The engineers took the concept of complete automization.

Thus the product is enabled with a set of temperature, time and pressure control buttons, allowing for the human-free production process.

Some of the amazing benefits of the PLC control system of the gold ingot making machine is that it controld your entire casting process. And you need fewer hands on work which saves your costs in the long run while increasing the revenue.

Plus, you will never have to sweat a tear about the quality and how it might turn out because the machine is approved for LMBA deals. You will also notice a huge decrease in the power consumption while the overall efficiency will also increase. Moreover, the machine also has the latest green technology for the gold bars installed in it and it’s a hit in the market.

This technology prevents all sorts of pollutants from spreading in the atmosphere.

    2.3.2, Operation

The machine is fully automatic. You have to load the raw material in the shape of granules, set timer, temperature, and pressure modes and take the instant cast in perfect form, weight and look. This high-quality casting tool will prepare perfect molds within 15 minutes.

This machine comes with an energy saving mechanism and an alarm system placed along different intervals. It is a green machine of a new era with safety as its main aim. It also has a mechanism installed to check for changes in voltage or lack of water supply.

The Vacuum Gold Bar Casting method works under the entirety of inert gas and vacuum protection. This gets rid of any risk of oxidization, shrinkage and rusting. It also guarantees workers safety. So it is environment friendly and time and cost effective. Since it is fully automated, it does not carry with it chances of inventory loss due to human error.

Its procedure is fully automated. The first step involves weighing of the materials that are transferred to the mold. This is done using the weighing device in order to see how much of the gold would go into the making. The pouring is done into devices that give the bar the desired shape.

The machine is then turned on after which the process is further facilitated with the timer and temperatures set to their certain limits. The tank opens and the device is lowered into it after which the gold is cooled down in order to start the casting. It does not make any noise and the vacuum ensures that there is no rusting that goes in because of the porous nature of the material.

The casting is done in accordance with the time set on the machine. After this it is taken out to be carefully placed into the desired storage compartments. This healthy environment results in the bars ending up having a shiny, clean surface unaffected by oxidation and shrinkage. This ensures minimum loss of material.

    2.3.3, Key Features

    As a user you receive a chain of benefits including;

    • A flawless look of bars gained through the vacuum technology.
    • Protecting casting from contact with air
    • Environmentally safe smokeless production
    • Control alarm systems to identify any deviation from operation
    • Labor-saving automation process allowing you to step down on the number of workers.
    • Potential to process 15 kg of raw material in one operation cycle, producing up to four gold and silver ingots of four customized, individual sizes.
    • Official permit for LMBA deals.
    • Less consumption of power by the machine therefore its use cuts costs immensely.
    • General amplification in process efficiency.
    • A powerful induction generator that can in no time heat up your precious metal to any desired melting temperature.
    • Multiple alarm systems are able to detect any sign of error or hindrance during work.
    • Machine emits zero smoke as it is set with the most recent green technology. This keeps the environment pollution free.

If we go down to comparing the traditional method with the vacuum method, we will find that our procedure is a step ahead in every way. In the traditional method, a lot of workers are required and the processes are also carried out manually which consumes more time.

In the longer term it is also more expensive as human labor is involved and this could lead to errors or mistakes made during work which leads to cost efficiency, as no inventory is damaged. Moreover, in terms of quality, the product tends to shrink or oxidize because of its porous nature.

The working conditions have also been argued over as they tend to be unsafe because the workers are exposed to toxic chemicals and excessive heat. The operation may also be prone to errors and there are more chances of human errors.

    On the other hand in the vacuum method we have the following benefits;

    • Lesser workers required since the whole process is done through machines
    • Very few chances of error and this make it much more cost efficient and there is no material loss.
    • Better gold bar quality because there is no oxidation or shrinkage because of less porosity.
    • Zero noise pollution and no emission of heat in the atmosphere. This makes for a safer environment.
    • Much more timely and efficient operation because it is devoid of human errors.
    Chapter 3:

Application in gold and silver refinery

3.1, Where gold/silver from (Recycling and precious metals containing impurities)

The first and the foremost step in knowing your gold is to know where it comes from. It must be sourced by an authentic supplier, one that is registered within its economy. It must be pure, at least 99.99%.

If it is found having other metals such as silver substance mixed in it, it is disregarded and its value immediately falls. The bullion banks are usually in charge of selling gold as they are the middleman between the supplier and consumer.

Therefore the quality must be such that it is approved by the bank. Financing and delivery is handled by the banks therefore the responsibility is not of the supplier. Other functions handled by the bank include spot trading, vaulting, etc.

Over the years with the increase in gold mining, many incidents have occurred which raise the question of the working conditions miners have to work under. This is why even the end users these days want to buy only from reliable suppliers who practice their business with legal and moral ethics.

Most people are aware of environment friendly methods of gold production therefore tend to be naturally inclined towards businesses that practice that.

    Golden Ore/ Other Precious Metals

Gold and silver are usually found in the pure state, but since their resources are limited, the valuable materials are extracted in the process of copper, lead and zinc refining. In natural load or vein, gold is mixed with other materials and therefore should be obtained through mining.

Once the mining for the ore is done, it can be used as a whole ore through a heap leaching process. This is very common for low-grade, oxide deposits. Usually, crushing of the ore is done. The high grade ores naturally resist cyanide and need more processing to reach the level where the gold values can be recovered. This method consists of grinding, roasting and pressure oxidation.

Another gold ore is known as a “refractory” gold ore. It is the one that has extra fine gold particles. These carry tendency to absorb carbon in the process and are naturally resistant to usual cyanidation. These refractory ores need to be treated prior to cyanidation in order for it to be effective.

It is an essential step in the recovery of the gold and usually has sulfide minerals along with organic carbon in it. The minerals are impermeable which make it hard for the leach solution to generate a complex with the gold. The organic carbon existing in the gold ore may take in dissolved gold-cyanide in almost the same way as activated carbon.

Known as preg-robbing, in this, the carbon washes away as it is a lot finer than the carbon recovery screens which are usually used to convalesce activated carbon.

    Recycling

Since gold mining is time, energy and labor consuming, recycling from e-waste is a popular option. Cell phone boards, LED screens, and PCs grow into a valuable source of material for gold and silver recovery. The recycled metals end up in a gas furnace in which they are melted down and later poured into ingots molds.

These ingots include some mix of different metals that end up in the melt together. A good example is silver which is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. But this is not usually the case even if we take the finest pieces into account. The income margins and savings have less silver and more copper as an outcome.

In some cases, alloy producers consist of other metals apart from silver and copper. So when these are collectively melted together in the furnace, a part of these metals steam off via evaporation. For example, when silver boils, zinc, lead and indium steam away as they have a relatively lower boiling point. This causes vaporization during the melt which helps in purification.

For example if 1000 grams silver scrap is recycled, it can make an ingot weighing almost exactly for 1000 grams. But this is not always the case. The energy utilization for melting the silver can go up to about 2.5 percent. This makes the ingot weigh for 975 grams.

The silver melts usually give an outcome of 1.5 percent loss through the zinc and lead becoming volatile. Therefore at the end the 1000 gram ingot ends up weighing 960 grams. Tests can also be run to see how much silver the ingot contains. Usually the amount should account for 92.5%.

But this again is not usually the case. Even the scrap material comes from the good retailers but once it is melted away, it accounts for only 92.5%. The machine helps to minimize the loss and make excellent utilization of the scrap available from the retailers.

3.2, The refining process of gold

There are multiple refining processes of gold. One is through royal water and the other is via electrolysis.

    Royal Water

Aqua regia refinement method is one of the oldest in history, and it is the best way to obtain gold and silver from alloys with other metals. Aqua regia is a chemical substance, consisting of acids able to dissolve minerals.

After procession pure gold and silver in shape of granules and powder get separated from other metals. Aqua regia method is not expensive and quite useful, with the only negative quality of not being environmentally friendly.

The metals such as nickel, iron etc that might have been present in the scrap is also found, usually in green color. The excess containing nitric acid is removed by boiling. In order to attain as much gold as possible, a chemical is added to alter gold chloride into solid gold particles and omit other metals.

After tests are conducted, the solution is filtered after which the gold is thoroughly washed. It is then melted at high temperature and poured into molds or made into shot. This process can be toxic because of the corrosive chemicals used therefore safety precautions must be undertaken.

This method is the most common because it is inexpensive with the only drawback being environmentally unfriendly.

    Electrolysis

Electrolysis on the other hand is a gold refinement method which produces the purest gold. That is an electrochemical process often used in big gold-refinement industries.

This method is environment-friendly and doesn’t provide any dangerous gases, but about 20% of gold is left on anodes, thus leading to a considerable material loss. It begins with a solution of hydrochloric acid. The cathode (a thin sheet of 24K gold) is used.

A high electric current is passed through the electrolyte, which allows the acid bath to suspend the anode substance and via ion transfer, purity is achieved which lies roughly around 99.999%. It is then washed and melted into ingots.

This process is time consuming. A more economical refining method can be used which is called the Miller Chlorination Process, but this purifies gold to a lesser percent, roughly by 99.5%. Silver is found in the impure portions of this alloy. This method does not involve dangerous gases.

3.3, For casting (Compliance with LBMA standards)

    LBMA

Coming to being compliant with LBMA standards, all the gold bullions undergo a thorough examination before admission to the market. It is necessary to eliminate the risk of fake and low-quality products, as well as to protect prospective buyers.

To ensure the unified approach to the ingot quality assurance the international system of standards, known as LBMA was established. LBMA stands for London Bullion Market Association, an organization controlled by the Bank of England.

The physical characteristics of gold and silver bullions that get admitted to the market should be compliant with the Good Delivery specification, or in other words as a set of rules, accepted by LMBA.

    Pure Gold and Silver

The LBMA standards for gold and silver bullion consider the gold content in the alloy, dimension, manufacture mark and fineness. The most excellent gold bars obtained in the process of chemical refinement are 99.999% pure. LMBA accepts minimum 995 parts per thousand fine gold and 999 parts per thousand silver ingots. The dimensions of bars are 210 x 55 x 25 mm (L/W/H) for gold and 250 x 110 x 60 mm (L/W/H) for solver.

Other accepted formats are specified in the LBMA specifications. The SuperbMelt gold bar making machine was engineered in compliance with all of the LBMA standards and has received the approval for gold casting and the products received are valid for any market operations.

Another great concern is that the gold must be sourced from an authentic supplier, one that is registered within its economy.

    Chapter 4:

Gold Melting Furnace for Gold Mining Laboratories

There are two main procedures of casting gold. In both the procedures, the gold needs to be converted into granules so that it can be easily weighed into exact quantities which will not be possible with slabs of gold.

This process is done using SuperbMelt’s vacuum granulating machine. The machine uses a vacuum and inert gas to make granules that are identical, spherical and are ready to use for casting.

Gold undergoes refining procedures which makes it pure. The company directly purchases pure gold bullion after which it is turned into granule so it can be weighed accurately. The machine used for this is the SuperbMelt vacuum granulating machine. The vacuum granulator is utilized in order to come up with homogenous master grains and alloy grains of good quality.

    The process begins with raw material molten by induction heating. This occurs in a protective atmosphere. Later on it is poured into a water tank passing through a multi-hollowed crucible that acts as flow breaker. The vacuum granulator has the following features;

    • It adopts fully vacuum and inert gas melting and granulating
    • It can automatically stir in melting
    • The finished products have no oxidization and produce equal particles, good color and good sphere.

    The vacuum granulator is an amazing choice for metals that have the tendency to oxidize easily. Then for producing the gold sheets, SuperbMelt jewellery continuous casting machine is used. It has the following features;

    • It can work 24 hours round the clock without any system malfunction. Thus it is time consuming and increases productivity.
    • Automatic control of all process variables and parameters is achievable.
    • It can be used for casting of alloys and semi alloys into different sizes and shapes in the shortest amount of time possible. This makes it time and cost efficient.
    • Automatic stirring of any melted metal. This results in improved quality of the final piece.
    • It can heat up to a maximum temperature of 1600℃ . This is a temperature range in which most metals melts.

Then with the help of the rolling mill, the gold sheet is bound to the required thickness. For this purpose, SuperbMelt Jewellery Rolling Mill is used.

Then with the help of hydraulic press, round gold coins are produced, after which pattern is pressed onto them.

The second method is shorter. The pure gold is refined after which it is pressed into sheets so that it can be weighed accurately. For this the same SuperbMelt vacuum granulating machine is used. Then small pieces of gold bar are remade.

For this purpose, SuperbMelt Gold Bar Making Machine is used, which is time and cost effective and produces bars with zero oxidization chances and a smooth surface. In the final step, the pattern is pressed onto the gold bullion through the hydraulic press.

    Chapter 5:

    Application in Mint

5.1, Why choose vacuum gold bar casting machine?

Nearly all of the industries in today’s world are trying to technologically advance their sector by bringing in new technology and machines that can replace humans, SuperbMelt is trying to do the same for the Gold industry.

The Gold industry is using traditional methods to melt and cast gold. SuperbMelt aims to change the latter by introducing vacuum gold bar casting machine. The question is why users should choose it.

    The vacuum gold bar casting machine is basically designed to produce custom high quality gold bars. There are many benefits of using this machine over the traditional method including;

    • Process of casting is done under inert gas and in a vacuum, which helps avoid multiple problems like oxidation, loss, and shrinkage.
    • The machine also features a touch screen that controls the entire machine from start to stop.
    • The machine automates the entire casting procedure from the start to stop and has the ability to run without stopping which helps maximize production capacity.
    • It is flameless, promoting safety, in all it is a safe and cheap option for casting gold or any other type of bars of the highest quality.

The features of this machine will be further elaborated on and also compared to the traditional gold casting procedure to give a fair view of why this machine is a better and easier way in comparison to the method already present and why it should be adopted.

5.2, The advantages of using vacuum gold casting machine instead of traditional methods

There are many benefits of using the new state of the art vacuum gold casting machine by SuperbMelt instead of traditional methods and all of these benefits will be listed below with a comparison to traditional method and how it is better so that the people casting gold frequently should adopt the new method.

    1. Cast top quality gold bar

The traditional method of casting a gold bar is an open procedure where the gold is first melted in a furnace at a very high temperature by a worker using a mold to hold the gold which is attached to a metal rod, once the gold is melted it is put into an open mold and is kept there till it cools down or is dunked into water to be cooled.

All of this is done in an open environment where contamination of the gold is highly likely as there are no measures in place to reduce the oxidation; chances of oxidation are high during the process as well as in the long term.

The procedure as its open, also allows for the impurities in the environment to deposit themselves in the gold when it is molten, thus reducing the purity level of the gold which also devalues as the purity level of the gold is a measure of its value.

In comparison to this is the process of making these bars in a vacuum gold casting machine by SuperbMelt, in this machine the gold casting bay is a vacuum, which means no external impurities can survive in the casting environment. In addition to it being a vacuum, the use of inert gas is made.

An inert gas is a gas which prevents any reaction from taking place and as we all know oxidation is a really common chemical reaction where oxygen reacts with a metal to form an oxide. The inert gas prevents this by making the environment in the casting bay unreactive.

The presence of both a vacuum and inert gas result in making your casted gold bars spot less and almost mirror-like. So the gold bars casted using the vacuum gold casting machine are more likely to be valued highly in the gold market in comparison to the bars made using traditional methods.

    2. Reduce loss of gold

Another benefit of using the vacuum gold casting machine is that it limits the loss of gold. As discussed earlier, the traditional method of casting gold is completely open; the molten gold is exposed to the open air and is also exposed to the environment when it is cooling down.

The method also involves the transferring of molten gold from mold to mold. As we said that the impurities from external environment can contaminate it, the gold itself can be lost to external environment too as it has complete access to it during the traditional gold casting procedure but in the new vacuum gold casting machine, which is not the case.

As said, the machine creates a vacuum when the user hits the start button and sucks all air out of the casting bay which means that the bay is completely sealed and nothing can go in or go out, this result in the amount of gold put in the mold staying in.

Also there is no transfer of gold done in the procedure done in the machine, so no fear of gold being lost in the transfer from a mold to mold. Normally the amount of gold lost in a traditional procedure is 0.05% while the vacuum gold casting machine brings that number down to 0.01% and if on average a 100Kg of gold is casted in a day, the savings translate to 600,000 dollars per year. That’s a lot of money no one wants to lose and we at SuperbMelt make sure you don’t.

    3. Gold bar with accurate weight

Adding to the two benefits of using a vacuum gold casting machine over a traditional casting method is that it provides the desired weight of the bar and it does so by minimizing the residue left on the mold once the gold is cast.

A very relevant difference between the two procedures that makes this a benefit of using the machine is that in a traditional method, gold is first melted in a furnace and then transferred into a mold until the desired weight is achieved, this is highly inaccurate as there is residue left in the container used to melt the gold while in the procedure of casting gold in a vacuum gold casting machine there is a prerequisite and that is that only granules of gold can be used and not slabs of gold.

The advantage of using these granules is that they are machine made from a slab of gold and are all of equal weight and very light. The person casting the gold can weigh these granules down to gram precisely and place them in the machine.

So the weight desired for the gold bar is the weight the user gets as there is also no loss as no gold is left over as residue. Accuracy of weight is very important in the gold market as each gram is valuable of this precious metal.

    4. Safer

A very important benefit of using the vacuum gold casting machine is safety. Firstly the machine requires minimum human input and where it does is, in positions where there is no potential harm to the user.

In a normal casting procedure the worker has to work in really high temperature environments, as it is a well-known fact that gold melts at very high temperatures, long exposure to high temperature can cause health problems for the person who is working day and night casting these bars whereas this is not the case in the machine as the entire procedure is done inside the machine and the person does not have to face the heat.

The machine does not use an open flame to heat the gold, it uses heat from induction instead, this means that the person does not have to work around an open flame that can potentially burn them or cause harm to the surroundings.

The machine is also equipped with a cooling system that makes everything safe, the cooling procedure is also done inside the machine only and the workers do not have to transfer the hot bars into water to be cooled like they have to in a normal procedure thus making it safer.

The machine can be placed in any sort of a setting; it does not need a special setting as it is needed in the traditional method as it involves the usage of a furnace which cannot be placed anywhere.

    5. Save labor cost

As we mentioned earlier the usage of this machine can potentially save a lot of money for gold bar manufacturers by reducing the waste of gold and that is not the only way it saves money for manufacturers, another way it can save money is by cutting labor costs.

The traditional method of casting gold uses a lot of labor, hence the salaries that need to be paid. While by using the vacuum gold casting machine, manufacturers can reduce the number of people needed, as the machine only requires one person to work on it as the system on it can do everything by pressing a series of buttons, which can be done by the least skilled labor too and the entire process is automated from start to stop, all the worker has to do is measure the granules and place them in the mold and start the machine.

    6. Environmental protection without harm

As we said, SuperbMelt has put in extra effort to ensure human safety from using these machines, but it did not stop at that. Environmental safety is also a key concern for them.

The traditional procedure of casting gold bars as mentioned earlier is an open one which means that there is discharge of toxic fumes that are dangerous for the environment and the people around, SuperbMelt solves this problem by making the procedure carried out in the machine a smokeless one and a one that is carried in a closed environment by doing so it protects the environment and its inhabitants.

The environment is further protected by using the machine since in comparison to the traditional method it does not produce any waste at all, which reduces the amount of waste produced by casting gold bars which is a very common practice and this greatly reduces waste to a minimum.

The workers operating the machine do not have to inhale the harmful smoke produced in a traditional setting of casting bars, which means using a machine greatly improves a workers working environment.
